Attention all ladies 16 years and
older!!
Once again the Sheridan Recreation District is offering a women's
soccer
program. Depending on the numbers, it will either
be 6 on 6
on a 50 x 50 yard field or 11 on 11 on a regulation field.
Come join
the fun of this fast paced sport! Whether you are a beginner,
intermediate
or novice, you are welcome to participate! For more

The opening day
for the 2010 season will be Friday, June 4th from 12:30pm to 5:00pm.
This will be a 50 cent swim day.

Summer Softball 2010 |

Leagues
are offered in men’s and co-rec divisions. Play begins in
late
May on Monday through Thursday nights with make-ups on Fridays.
Fees are established at the managers’ meeting on Wednesday,
May 5th. Registration is April 26th to May 7th.
Games
are at
the Sheridan Softball Complex which offers a full-service concession
stand fresh with hot dogs, nachos, ice cream, popcorn, sodas, and
candy. In addition, batting cages are available during the
season
and fifty cents provide ten balls to master your swing.

Softball
Managers and Umpires Meeting
Wednesday,
May 5th at 6:00pm at the Old Highland Park/SRD Facility. All men’s and
co-Rec teams planning to participate should be in attendance as
divisions and fees are established. General information will be
covered. Individuals searching for a team are encouraged to attend.
An A.S.A. representative will be at this meeting to answer
any
questions you might have.

The softball season concludes with a
recreational
league with the emphasis on fun. The league begins in August
after
the summer season. Each team will play ten games without any
awards
or tournament. Doubleheaders are scheduled, so be
ready to
play! Play is Tuesday and Thursday nights.

Fall League Basketball 2009 |
Registration
for the 2009 season will
take place from October 12-21, 2009. Fees are to be
determined
based on the number of teams involved. Men’s
teams must register at the Sheridan Recreation District office, Monday
through Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Please make checks payable to
the Sheridan Recreation District and provide a preliminary roster with
names and the name and phone number of a contact person.
Official
rosters are due at the first night of games.

MEN’S
FALL BASKETBALL MEETING - Wednesday, October 21st at the Sheridan
Recreation District Office at 6:00pm. This will be the
primary
organizational meeting for the Fall 2009 Men’s Basketball season.
Teams will play 7-8 games. No tournaments are
scheduled.
At this meeting such topics as league format with the two
divisions, rule changes, fees, and any other points of interest will be
discussed. This is an important meeting and all Men’s team
managers and interested players are encouraged to attend to discuss the
league.
THE MEN’S FALL SEASON BEGINS THE WEEK OF OCTOBER 28TH.

Basketball - Over 30 League |

League play will begin the later part
of January with registration for
the 2010 Over 30 league is January 18 - 25, 2010. Men’s Over 30 teams must
register at the
Sheridan Recreation District office Monday - Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm.
Please make checks payable to the Sheridan Recreation District and
provide preliminary rosters with a name and phone number of a contact
person. Official rosters are due at the first game.
A
manager's meeting will be held Thursday, January 28, 2010 at the
Sheridan Recreation District Office at 6:00pm. This will be
the
primary organizational meeting for the 2010 Men’s Over-30 Basketball
League. Rules, changes, fees, and other points of interest
will
be discussed. All Men’s Over-30 team managers and interested
players are encouraged to attend to discuss the upcoming league.

Invitational Volleyball Tournament |

If an indoor activity is more to your
liking, why not participate in the annual men's and women's volleyball
tournaments? The event will be held in mid to late February. Teams
(maximum
of 8 in each division) will compete in pool play on Saturday with
Bracket

2009-2010 |
Team registration for
the 2009-2010 season is from Monday,
September 28, 2009 through Friday, October 9, 2009. Team
registrations will be taken from 8:00am to 5:00pm, Monday
through
Friday at the Recreation District Office. Checks must be
payable
to the Sheridan Recreation District. Along with payment,
bring
in the name and phone number of the manager of the team.
Final

VOLLEYBALL PLAYERS, MANAGERS AND OFFICIALS CLINIC
Wednesday, October 7
Old Highland Park School • 6:00pm
All
volleyball team captains and players MUST attend the organizational
meeting to discuss the upcoming season. Topics of discussion
will
include rules, division of leagues, number of matches, night each
league will play, starting dates and times, etc. This is a
mandatory and informative meeting and a great opportunity for players
and captains to provide constructive input to improve the program.
This MANDATORY meeting will be for all returning officials,
any
new officials, and all team representatives. The purpose of this
meeting will be to inform and update participants on the rules of the
game. All persons interested in officiating volleyball for
the
2009-2010 season must attend this clinic, as well as one team
representative from each team. *Teams not represented will
receive a forfeit of the first game of the first match.*

CO-REC VOLLEYBALL
The
Co-Rec Volleyball season will start early March or after the men’s and
women’s divisions. Divisions are Co- Rec “A” and Co-Rec “B”
divisions and will play on Monday & Wednesday nights until
early
May. Registration is accepted from February 16 – March 6.
The team fee is $100 per team with ten matches and no awards.
A mandatory Managers Meeting is Wednesday, Feb. 25 at 6:00 PM
at
the Old Highland Park School (SRD office). All teams not
represented will receive a forfeit of their first game of their first
match.

Extreme Dodgeball |
This
year the Recreation District would like to have all interested people
in having a co-ed league. The Recreation District will have an
organizational meeting for all those that are interested in expanding
the dodgeball leagues. The meeting will take place on Monday
October 19, 2009, at the Old Highland Park School at 6:00 p.m.
We
will set dates for the leagues at this time and team fees will also be
discussed. Get with your friends and passthe word on Adult

Flag Football |
If
you still want to live out your childhood dreams of playing football,
come and get involved with adult flag football league at the Sheridan
Recreation District. The league runs from the end of August through
October. The league is a 6 on 6 and is an all pass league. There
will be a managers meeting on Wednesday August 19, 6:00 p.m. at the
Community Center.

Come on out to the NEW Disc golf
course, at Sheltered Acres Park that is at the end of Emerson
Street.
There will be an organizational meeting for everyone interested in
playing Disc golf this upcoming summer. Leagues could be
formed.
The course will be at the Sheltered Acres Park and times will run in
the evening hours. The Recreation District has discs
available
for the public. There will be a $10.00 deposit for the use
and
you must bring back all Discs or pay to replace the Discs.
