This entry level, rock climbing course is designed to teach students about basic knots, belay techniques, rappelling, top-rope climbing, and Leave No Trace ethics in the backcountry. All students will be supplied with the climbing gear needed for the course. Students are welcome to bring their own gear if it passes a safety inspection. Climbing courses will be broken up into age/grade levels. Students will climb at various spots in the Bighorn Mountains (i.e. Tongue River Canyon, South Piney Creek Canyon, or Steamboat Point).

Instructors

All instructors for this course will be contracted through Bighorn Mountain Guides, LLC. The lead instructor is Nick Flores, a local climber and educator, who has several years of experience working with students in an educational setting. All guides contracted through Bighorn Mountain Guides have current CPR/First-AID training and have been certified as a Single-Pitch Instructor by the American Mountain Guide Association (AMGA).

Courses

Elementary Level: For 3rd to 5th graders or 8-11 years old. This course is limited to the first 18 students who sign up. Dates: Tuesdays and Thursdays for 3 weeks (June 12th, 14th, 19th, 21st, 26th, 28th) from 7:30 am - 12:30 pm. Cost: $180 per individual for the entire course Junior High Level: For 6th to 8th grade or 12-14 year olds Dates: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays for 3 weeks (June 11th, 13th, 15th, 18th, 20th, 22nd, 25th, 27th, 29th) from 7:30 am - 12:30 pm. If there are openings available, a student can pay per day if they can only make a few days for any of the courses.

Fees Include
