Easter Egg-stravaganza Hunt 2010
Sponsored by Sheridan Media & PhotoFinish
Hippity, Hoppity, Easter is on its way!!!  Bring your baskets and hop, hop, hop out to Dan Madia field on Saturday, April 3rd for a fun filled Easter egg event.  The Sheridan Recreation District, along with Sheridan Media and Photo Finish invite all children 7 years old and younger to join us in this annual event.  The Easter Bunny will be available for pictures and there will be plenty of candy to make this an event you do not want to miss.

National Bike to Work Week 2010
May 10th to 14th is National Bike To Work Week!  Support this national week, and join in on the fun!!!  May 14th is National Bike to Work Day, so hop on your bikes and peddle your way to work!  Get your co-workers involved.

2010 Hershey Track and Field Meet
The local Hershey Track and Field meet will be held on Tuesday, May 25 at the Sheridan High School stadium track.  (Rain-Out day will be held on Thursday, May 27.)  All boys and girls between the ages of 9-14 as of December 31, 2010 are eligible to participate in this fun-filled event.  Kids will have the opportunity to qualify for the State meet held in Evanston, WY in late June.  It’s a fun event for kids who can throw, jump and run fast.  For more information call the Sheridan Recreation District office at 674-6421.  Pick up entry forms from your child’s school or at the Recreation District office in Thorne-Rider Park.

2010 Hershey Meet Results

The Circus is Coming!
The Sheridan Recreation District is please to announce the Culpepper & Merri Weather Circus is coming to Sheridan.  June 19th and 20th you will find the Big Top at Madia Field for four traditional circus performances with the midway opening an hour before the show times.  We invite the public to come out Friday and Saturday morning to see the raising of the Big Top Tent.  Reduced price advanced tickets will be sold for this event in addition to tickets being available the day of the circus.

SRD Young Adventures
The Sheridan Recreation District is looking for youth ages 7-11 to accept our offer of becoming a SRD Young Adventurer.  We are looking for adventurers that like to have fun and are interested in learning about some of the local interests.  The adventures will range from visiting local historical sites, arts and crafts activities in Story and we will finish the week with a parent/child BBQ.  The Adventures will be a week long event beginning Monday, June 22nd and ending with the BBQ on Friday,  June 26th.  Parents, we will need you to drop off the Young Adventurers at 8:00 am at the SRD Facility at old Highland Park and plan on picking them up at 1:00pm Monday through Friday.  You will be notified by your Adventurer the time and location of the BBQ.  The cost of the Young Adventurer weeklong adventure is $35. We do have a limited number of spots available, soregister early for this fun filled adventure.

Concerts in the Park
The Kendrick Park Summer Concerts will officially kick-off Tuesday, July 7th, and will continue as a regular Tuesday evening highlight throughout the summer.  Additionally, on these special evenings, the Kendrick Park Ice Cream Stand will offer a super ice cream special.

Summer evenings, great music, and delicious ice cream what could be better.  Bring a friend and plan on having a real enjoyable experience.

Tentative dates for the concerts are as scheduled: July 7th; July 14th; July 21st; July 28th;
August 4th, 7:30 p.m.; August 11th, 7:30 p.m.; August 18th, 7:30 p.m.; and August 25th, 7:00 p.m.

2008 Wyoming Senior Olympics
Now is the time to plan, train, and start getting ready to participate in the 2008 Wyoming Senior Olympics. The dates are July 24-26, 2008.  Visit their website for more information.

Costume Ball
Grab your dancing shoes and a partner for a fun night of community ballroom dancing.  Dance the night away to Big Band sounds with a live band, refreshments, costumes, laughter and fun!  Friday, October 26, 2007 from 8-11 pm at Sagebrush Elementary School Gym.  Must be 14 years old, all abilities welcome!  $10 per couple, $5 for single.  Costumes optional. ** We are in need of a live band with a Big Band sound.  If intersted, please contact Aimee Tice at the SRD office 674-6421.

Halloween Carnival
Attention all little ghosts and goblins: the Sheridan Recreation District Halloween Carnival is back and better than ever!!  Come join us on Saturday, October 31, 2009 from 3-5 pm at the Old Highland Park School for games, prizes, crafts, face printing, and TONS of candy!  Pumpkin carving contest will also be featured.  Ages 9 and under. Call the SRD office for more information at 674-6421.  Don’t forget your costume!

Turkey Hoop Shoot
Strut your stuffing at the annual Turkey Hoop Shoot on Monday, November 23, 2009 at 7:00 pm at the Sheridan Junior High School.  First place winners receive a free turkey!  Second place winners receive a pie of their choice!  Two person teams are made up of Mother/Son and Father/Daughter.  The two age divisions are 8-10 year olds and 11-13 year olds.  The two competitions to enter into are Free Throws and 1 Minute Spot Shooting.  Contestants may enter both competitions.  One prize per family.  Entry fee is 2 non-perishable food items to benefit those in need in Sheridan County.  Call the Sheridan Recreation District for more info 674-6421.  No pre-registration required.  Gobble, gobble, gobble.
