Easter Egg-stravaganza Hunt 2011
Sponsored by Sheridan Media & PhotoFinish
Get your Easter basket ready for our annual Easter Egg Hunt.  Come on out to Dan Madia Field where the Easter Bunny will be available for pictures.  There will be plenty of candy to make this an event you don’t want to miss.

WHEN: Saturday, April 23rd
TIME: 9:30 AM SHARP!
(Please be there 15-20 minutes before the event happens, we don’t want anyone to miss out on the opportunity to get candy)
PLACE: Dan Madia Field (If weather does not cooperate, event will go indoors at a location TBA)

National Bike to Work Week 2011
May 16th to 20th is National Bike To Work Week!  Support this national week, and join in on the fun!!!  May 18th is National Bike to Work Day, so hop on your bikes and peddle your way to work!  Get your co-workers involved.

2011 Hershey Track and Field Meet
The local Hershey Track and Field meet will be held on Tuesday, May 24th at the Sheridan High School stadium track.  (Rain-Out day will be held on Thursday, May 26th.)  All boys and girls between the ages of 9-14 as of December 31, 2011 are eligible to participate in this fun-filled event.  Kids will have the opportunity to qualify for the State meet held in Lander, WY. on Saturday, June 18th.  It’s a fun event for kids who can throw, jump, and run fast.  For more information call the Sheridan Recreation District office at 674-6421.  Pick up entry forms from your child’s school, or at the Recreation District office in Thorne-Rider Park.

Cloverbud Science Day Camp
Get ready for Slimey Gooey and Gross Adventures, Ball and Tracks, and Cooking up Science are a few of the  activities planned.  The Sheridan County 4-H and the Sheridan Recreation District are excited to offer this program to all youth ages 5-8.  You do not have to be a member of 4-H to participate in this camp.

Concerts in the Park
The Kendrick Park Summer Concerts will officially kick-off Tuesday, July 7th, and will continue as a regular Tuesday evening highlight throughout the summer.  Additionally, on these special evenings, the Kendrick Park Ice Cream Stand will offer a super ice cream special.

Summer evenings, great music, and delicious ice cream what could be better.  Bring a friend and plan on having a real enjoyable experience.

Tentative dates for the concerts are as scheduled: July 7th; July 14th; July 21st; July 28th;
August 4th, 7:30 p.m.; August 11th, 7:30 p.m.; August 18th, 7:30 p.m.; and August 25th, 7:00 p.m.

Freedom Fest
Mark your calendars on July 4th because your family is invited to our First Annual Freedom Fest.  This day is going to be filled with all sorts of family activities.  All events plan to be over by 2:00 pm so you don’t have to worry about missing any fireworks at night.  There will be FREE FOOD & DRINKS at the event.  The following events will take place the entire day unless otherwise noted.

Mud Volley ball Tournament: Grab your team and show up at 10:00 AM for a mud volleyball single.  Elimination tournament consisting of one game to 25.  This event is coed and offered to all ages.  Two 16 team brackets (Sort of Competitive Bracket & Mostly for Fun Bracket).  A captains meeting will take place to cover rules before the tournament starts.  The winning team of each bracket will receive t-shirts and get to keep the 2011 Mud Volleyball Ball.

Mini Corn Dog & Pie Eating Contest: Hope your stomach is ready to go for our Mini Corn Dog Eating Contest that will take place at 11:00 am at the trailer.  Participants will have two minutes to eat as many corn dogs as possible.  We’ll also be having two pie eating contests which will begin at 1:00 pm and then again at 1:15 pm. First one to finish their pie will be the winner. Each winner will receive an award. (Note: 12 individuals per event. Individuals are only allowed to participate in one event.  Please show up 20 minutes prior to the event starting to register with Dale Boedeker.)

Wiffle Ball Home Run Hitting Contest: Step to the plate and slug your way into the history books at our first annual Wiffle Ball Home Run Hitting Contest.  This contest will consist of four age division: 10 & under, 11 to 15, 16 to 22, and 23 and up.  Each batter will get 10 pitches.  This event will take place throughout the day.

Freedom Fun Course: Get ready to get muddy and have some fun at our Freedom Fun Course which will pose a challenge to all age groups.  Various activities include mud crawl, swinging tire, dunk tank toss, dunk tank and more. This event will take place throughout the day There will also be various types of children games / activities to keep your young ones entertained.

Costume Ball
Grab your dancing shoes and a partner for a fun night of community ballroom dancing.  Dance the night away to Big Band sounds with a live band, refreshments, costumes, laughter and fun!  Friday, October 26, 2007 from 8-11 pm at Sagebrush Elementary School Gym.  Must be 14 years old, all abilities welcome!  $10 per couple, $5 for single.  Costumes optional. ** We are in need of a live band with a Big Band sound.  If intersted, please contact Aimee Tice at the SRD office 674-6421.

Halloween Carnival
This year’s free Halloween Carnival will be held at Old Woodland Park School from 2-4 pm on October 29th.

Grab your costumes and trick-or-treat bags and come join the Sheridan Recreation District at Old Woodland Park School for our annual Halloween Carnival!  This year’s carnival will have a variety of games, small crafts, face painting and most importantly lots of candy.  Don’t forget about our pumpkin carving contest in which individuals will bring in a carved pumpkin from home and have it judged.  We’ll also have a best costume contest as well.  Make sure you mark it on your calendars so you don’t miss out on this fun filled day.

Turkey Hoop Shoot
Grab Mom or Dad and start preparing for the Fifth Annual Turkey Hoop Shoot.  This contest consists of free throws and one minute spot shooting.  It is open to two person teams that are made up of Mother/Son and Father/Daughter.  Divisions are as follows: 8-10 year olds and 11-13 year olds.  First place winners receive a free turkey just in time for Thanksgiving.  Second place winners receive a pie of their choice.  One prize per family.

Registration will be held at the event and participants must bring  2 non-perishable food items to benefit those in need in Sheridan County.  The Turkey Hoop Shoot will take place on Monday, November 21st at 7:00pm at the Sheridan Junior High School.  Call the Sheridan Recreation District for more info 674-6421.
