The Sheridan Recreation District tries to keep the registration fees low to give all youth the opportunity to participate.  If a participant cannot afford to pay the entry fee that individual's fee is waived.  If you or your business is interested in becoming a youth program sponsor and need more information don't hesitate to call the Sheridan Recreation District at 674 -6421.

Webb Wright Baseball 2011
The summer of 2011 is fast approaching and once again it is time to get ready for BASEBALL. This program is designed to develop fundamental skills such as catching, throwing, fielding, hitting and running the bases.  The goal of the Sheridan Recreation District is to provide a fun, safe, and enjoyable experience that will be remembered for a lifetime.

REGISTRATION:  April 4th - 22nd, a $5.00 late registration fee will be charged.

LEAGUES & FEES (Sheridan Recreation District provides uniforms):
  • Pee Wee - All current 1st-2nd graders or 7/8 year olds, born: May 1, 2002 - April 30, 2004. $20.00 fee
  • Intermediate - All current 3rd-4th graders or 9/10 year olds, born: May 1, 2000 - April 30, 2002. $25.00 fee
  • Minor League - All current 5th-6th graders or 11/12 year olds, born: May 1, 1998- April 30, 2000. $30.00 fee
DRAFT INFORMATION: All Pee Wee and Intermediate players will play on a team of the school they are currently attending.   If a school team is full we reserve the right to place the student on another team.  All Minor League players will be drafted on teams by coaches and the Sheridan Recreation District representative.  All 11 and 12 year olds will be drafted. 

REGISTER EARLY:  We have a maximum limit of 13 players per team!!!!!

14th Annual Sheridan American Legion Baseball Camp (Ages 13-15)
The Sheridan American Legion Baseball coaching staff and players will be holding their 14th annual baseball camp at Thorne Rider Stadium. The camp is open to all area youth age 7 through 15. The dates for the camp are June 3rd, 4th, and 5th from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.  The cost of the camp is $30 and includes a Trooper Camp T-shirt and juice and snack at mid-morning breaks.

Babe Ruth Baseball
The Babe Ruth League is an independent league and is not part of the Webb Wright Baseball program.  For more information about Babe Ruth, check out their website at www.sheridanbaseball.com.  The age cut off for playing in the Babe Ruth is May 1, 1995 through April 30, 1998.

2011 Little Sluggers Baseball Program
The "Little Sluggers" program, offered to all boys and girls ages 5 & 6, teaches the basic fundamentals of baseball such as catching, throwing, fielding, hitting, and knowledge of positions. The goal of this program is to provide instruction in a fun and relaxed atmosphere.

2011 T-Ball - Slow Pitch Girls League (Ages 7-9)
The T-ball league continues to grow as girls wish to learn the fundamentals of fielding ground balls, pop flies, throwing correctly, running the bases, and testing their strength and skill by hitting the softball from coaches pitching or off a tee.  All teams are formed by the schools that the child attends and the Sheridan Recreation District.

All area young ladies are encouraged to participate in this fast paced league.  This league is a step up from T-ball, where the fundamentals and skills learned are put to the test with a higher level of play.  Games are played at 6th Street field #2.  Teams will be formed by the schools that the child attends and the Sheridan Recreation District.

NYSCA Coaches Certification Clinic - Required for all volunteer coaches
The Sheridan Recreation District requires all volunteer coaches to certify with the NYSCA program. This program is designed to help coaches understand the special needs of each child, teach fundamentals, plan practices, and most importantly how to be a positive role model for the young athlete.

I
t is mandatory for all volunteer coaches involved in the T-ball, Colts and Ponies Girls’ Softball programs to attend the NYSCA certification clinic held at the Sheridan Recreation District.  It enables each coach to obtain liability insurance coverage and promote new ideas and coaching techniques.  Two clinic dates are available: May 3rd, at 6:00PM or May 17th, at 6:00PM.  If you are interested in coaching, please contact the Sheridan Recreation District at 674-6421.

Let's Go Fishing 2011
The Sheridan Recreation District, and The Wyoming Game and Fish Dept. O.R.E.O. (Outdoor Recreation and Educational Opportunity) program, are sponsoring three youth fishing days this summer.  This program will be offered to girls and boys between the ages of 9 - 13.  Sorry, but we are limited to only 15 kids per outing , so sign up early.

EQUIPMENT NEEDED: A small backpack or duffel bag with extra clothes (socks, shirt, shorts, and a sack lunch and beverage).  Also if you have your own fishing equipment, please bring that as well.  The Recreation District will furnish fishing equipment and backpacks for kids that don't have their own.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: We will leave at 9:00 am on fishing days in front of the Sheridan Recreation Office. Transportation will be provided to and from the fishing site.  Parents need to be at the Recreation Office by 4:00 PM to pick up their children.

Little Guy Football 2011
Fall is football season and what better way to spend those cool, fall evenings than playing football in one of the Sheridan Recreation Leagues.  We offer flag football for the 1st to 4th grade athlete and tackle football for the 5th and 6th grader.  All tackle football players will need a sports physical before first practice.  Sign up in early August and enjoy Fall Football.

Volunteer coaches are needed to help run our football program.  If you would like to coach in any of our leagues please contact the Sheridan Rec. District.  All Coaches will have to sign off on a background check form.

TEAM SELECTION PROCESS

  1. All 5/6 grade tackle players will be drafted.
  2. All 1-4 grade players will play on school teams unless limited numbers force the Rec. District to move some players to other teams.
  3. If enough players sign up in one school to field two teams, then the teams will be divided up equally.
  4. Late sign ups will not necessarily be placed on their school team.  They will be placed where needed.

Little Guy Football Cheerleading
Are you ready to have some fun this Little Guy Football Season?  Grab your poms for another season with Coach Steph Vela.  This season you’ll have the opportunity to learn a variety of new cheers, and perform with the Sheridan High School girls cheerleaders at a football game.  Cheerleading will be open to boys and girls ages 1st through 6th grade.  Coach Steph will be teaching a variety of cheers, chants, and possibly some dance moves. Sheridan Junior High Intramurals
Looking to test your skills at a new activity that you’ve never done before?  Or, are you interested in an activity but not sure how to play it?  Well, here’s your chance to participate in something that is all about having fun while focusing on the fundamentals.  This program is open to 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th graders.  Before you head home from school, grab a friend and come join the Sheridan Recreation District and the Junior High for some after school intramurals.  Some of the activities we’ll be doing are girl’s basketball, boy’s basketball, volleyball, swimming, life time activities (golf, pickle ball, archery, and more).  Can’t find a ride
from your elementary school?  Don’t worry because there are buses you can ride that will take you to the junior high.  If you have any questions regarding the intramural program please contact Nick Dore at the Sheridan Recreation District or Raili Emery at the Junior High.

Time: 3:30 PM- 5:00 PM.

Rimbusters Basketball 2012
On behalf of the Sheridan Recreation District and the YMCA, we welcome you to sign up your child in the Rimbusters program.  Please note that this in an instructional program only, and we will not be playing games.

This basketball program was designed with the following goals in mind:
  1. Get children involved at an early age in basketball.
  2. Teach fundamental basketball at an early age and get them on the right track.

Basketball Cheerleading
Don’t worry if you missed out on Little Guy Football Cheerleading because this winter Coach Steph Vela and the Sheridan Recreation District will be doing Basketball Cheerleading.  Here’s your opportunity to meet some new friends, have some fun and stay out of that cold weather.  Girls and boys in 1st through 6th grade are encouraged to come have some fun. Participants will learn a variety of cheers and chants.  So hurry in and don’t missout on the fun.

Thorne-Rider Park 2010 BMX Bike Racing Season
Do you enjoy bike racing?  Are you between the ages 5 to 14?  Then come join us at the BMX track in Thorne Rider Park on Saturday mornings for bike racing and the chance to win a grand prize at the end of the year.  If you have any questions or would just like more information on this sport, please call the Sheridan Recreation District office at (307) 674-6421.

**All riders are required to have a helmet, riding gloves, elbow pads, long pants, and shoes (no sandals or open-toed shoes).**

This is a great opportunity for young people in the Sheridan area to learn how to play golf and/or increase their golf skills. This program is designed for young men and women between the ages of 8 and 16 to have fun building interest in this lifetime sport through skill development. Participants will learn rules, etiquette, and basic, intermediate and advanced fundamentals of putting, chipping, pitching, and full swim techniques. There will be three one week sessions offered this summer.

Session One:
Monday – Friday, June 20-24, 2011 from 1
0am - Noon, Beginning & Intermediate Levels

Session Two:
Monday – Friday, July 11-15, 2011 from 1
0am - Noon, Beginning & Intermediate Levels.

Session Three:
Monday – Friday, July 25-29, 2011 from 10am - Noon, Beginning & Intermediate Levels.

All sessions will include beginning and intermediate levels of instruction.  Participants will be grouped by age and ability.

Beginning Level - The beginning level session is for participants, who have little or no golfing experience, have never taken lessons or very few lessons, and/or who feel they want to review the basic golf skills.

Intermediate Level - The intermediate level session is for participants, who have limited golfing experience, have participated in our junior golf program a number of times before, and/or who feel they are ready to develop and apply basic golf skills.

All sessions will be held at Kendrick Golf Course.  All participants are encouraged to have their own set of clubs.

Registration Fees - $45 per participant for each session.

Limit – One $10 John Miller Scholarship per family.

Fee Includes: • professional instruction • range balls • participation t-shirt • end of program skills challenge and awards.

Sessions will be limited to the first 30 registered participants in each session.  Full payment must be received with the registration form for registration to be complete.

John and Vic Miller Memorial Scholarship
In memory of John and Vic Miller, avid golfers from the Sheridan Community, a special scholarship fund has been established to assist the 2011 Sheridan Junior Golf Program.  A $10.00 scholarships has been designated for the first 20 participants in the three sessions of Junior Golf.  This year, we are setting a limit of one (1) scholarship per family.  We would like to thank the Miller family for this generous contribution to Sheridan’s youth Golfers.

Teaching Kids with Disabilities the Game of Golf
This summer the Sheridan Recreation District and Kendrick Municipal Golf Course are teaming up to introduce the game of golf to children with disabilities.  This program will cost $10 which will cover the cost for the use of balls.  This program will be offered once a week and will cover the some of the following things: golf etiquette, grip, driving the ball, chipping, putting and even get a chance to play a couple holes.  This class will meet over 4 weeks and is open to ages 10-18.  Limit 8 kids per class.  Golf clubs will be provided if you don’t have any, if there is more interest for this class we may add another session.  Please call Nick Dore at the Sheridan Recreation District office if you’d like more information in regards to this program.
