American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification Class

The Sheridan Recreation District is offering an American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification class over three Sundays in April. If you are interested in becoming a lifeguard this summer, then this is the class for you. This certification will allow you to lifeguard at the vast majority of aquatics facilities. If you are a person interested in working as a lifeguard at Kendrick Pool over the summer season this is a great opportunity to get your foot in the door for that position.Lifeguard certification lasts for two years. If you have previously taken this class, check your certification to verify it is valid for the coming season or will need to be renewed via this class.

When: April 7th, 14th, & 21st

Time: 8am – 5pm

Where: Sheridan Junior High School Pool

Fee: $120

Instructor Adam Martin holds an American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor certification. Maximum number of 12 participants. Class times may vary depending on the number of participants. Detailed schedules will be given at the beginning of the class.

Participants must be 15 years old by the end of the class to receive certification. Successful participants will leave the course with an American Red Cross certification in Lifeguarding, First Aid, and CPR/AED. Participants will need to pass a pre-course swim test on the first day of the class. If they are unable to pass the pre-test, a full refund will be given. The test includes swimming 550 yards, tread water for two minutes, and a timed retrieval event.
