Opening & Closing Day For Kendrick Park Pool
The 2014 pool season begins on May 30th and ends on August 23rd. Our doors will be open from 1:00 - 5:00 pm and the price of admission is only 50 cents on these days only!

Early Bird Registrations will be held Monday, May 26th, through Friday, June 6th.

Afternoon and Evening Swim
During afternoon swim times, small water toys will be allowed at the discretion of the pool staff. United States Coast Guard Approved life-jackets are allowed at all times. Please speak with a manager for more clarification about life-jacket usage.

Sunday Dollar Days
Enjoy an afternoon swim (1:00 - 5:00 pm) with us! Sunday’s are Dollar Days. Each admission to the pool is only $1 for the entire afternoon.


Season Passes
Kendrick Pool Season Passes are a great way to save this summer. The use of swim passes are restricted to Open and Family Swim only. Purchase your season pass between May 26th and June 6th to take advantage of our Early Bird Special.

American Red Cross Swim Lessons
To provide more efficient instruction, we are streamlining our registration process and courses. Lessons will run Monday through Thursday from 8:30 am to Noon. Children are only allowed to be registered for one class per session. Class sizes will range from 5 to 7 students per instructor. If you have any questions, call Kendrick Pool at 674-9436.

Registration will begin Monday, May 26th from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm and continue throughout the summer during regular operating hours. There will be testing dates for students to ensure proper swim level placement. For an idea of which level to register for please reference the list of swim skills below. Please understand, if your child has not continued using their swim skills through the school year, they may have regressed. And, they might be placed in a lower level than last year.

Swim Lesson Cancellations: Any cancellations due to inclement weather will be made up on the Fridays at the regular lesson’s time slot. Evening Swim Lessons
We will be offering Evening Swim Lessons at the Sheridan Junior High Pool again this summer. Due to the depth and temperature of the Junior High pool, only levels 3 – 6 will be offered in the evenings.

Learn To Swim Program

This program is divided into six course levels. The prerequisite for each level is the successful demonstration of the skills from the preceding level, except for level 1. These levels are recommended for children five (5) years and older. However, children younger than five will be tested to ensure the proper fit to the correct level. The following lists are not complete and should be used only as a reference for your child’s swimming ability.

Level 1 - Introduction to Water Skills
Purpose: Helps participants feel comfortable in the water.
Skills:

  • Blow bubbles through mouth and nose
  • Bobbing
  • Open eyes under water and retrieve submerged objects
  • Front and back glides and back float
  • Roll from front to back and back to front
  • Tread water using arm and hand actions
  • Combined arm and leg actions on front and back
Level 2 - Fundamental Aquatic Skills
Purpose: Gives participants success with fundamental skills.
Skills:
  • Fully submerge and hold breath
  • Bobbing
  • Open eyes under water and retrieve submerged objects
  • Roll from front to back and back to front
  • Change direction of travel while swimming on front or back
  • Tread water using arm and leg actions
Level 3 - Stroke Development
Purpose: Builds on the skills in Level 2 through additional guided practice in deeper waters.
Skills:
  • Head first entry from the side in sitting and kneeling positions
  • Bobbing while moving toward safety
  • Back float
  • Change from vertical to horizontal position on front and back
  • Tread water
  • Push off in a stream lined position then begin flutter and dolphin kicks on front
  • Front crawl and elementary backstroke
Level 4 - Stroke Improvement
Purpose: Develops confidence in the skills learned and improves other aquatic skills.
Skills:
  • Head first entry from the side in compact and stride positions
  • Feet first surface dive
  • Front crawl and backstroke open turns
  • Tread water using two different kicks
  • Front and back crawl, elementary backstroke, breaststroke, side stroke, and butterfly
Level  5 - Stroke Refinement
Purpose: Provides further coordination and refinement of strokes.
Skills:
  • Shallow-angle dive from the side
  • Shallow-angle dive from the side then glide and begin a front stroke
  • Tuck and pike surface dives
  • Front flip turn and back stroke flip turn while swimming
  • Front and back crawl, elementary backstroke, breaststroke, sidestroke and butterfly
Level 6 - Swimming and Skill Proficiency
Purpose: Refines the strokes so participants swim them with ease, efficiency, power, and smoothness over greater distances.
Skills: Level 6 is designed with “menu” options that focus on preparing participants for lifetime fitness and safety, as well as more advanced courses, such as the Water Safety Instructor course, or other aquatic activities, including Competitive swimming or diving. Options include: Personal Water Safety, Fitness Swimmer, and Fundamentals of Diving.

Parent & Child Aquatics (Level A)
Builds basic water safety skills for both parents and children, helping infants and children ages 6 months to 3 years become comfortable in the water. This class requires a parent to accompany the child into the water.

Parent & Child Aquatics (Level B)
Gives young children ages 3 to 5 a positive, developmentally appropriate aquatic learning experience that emphasizes water safety, survival and foundational swimming concepts. This course will restrict class size from three to five students.

Friday Night Events
We will be hosting events for participants of all ages on Friday evenings this year. The second and fourth Fridays of each month will give patrons the chance to do more than just swim. The following are
  • Raft Races – Build a make-shift raft and come race against other patrons.
  • Dive In Movie Nights – Family friendly films will be shown.
  • Summer Luau
  • Belly Flop Contest
  • Water Joust

Weekend Rentals
Are you looking to make your summer celebrations even better? Whether you are looking to celebrate a birthday party, have a club BBQ, or just a fun time for your friends and family, we have what you are looking for. You can have your choice of 1.5 hour or 2 hour rentals. Rentals will be available each weekend from June 14th through August 10th. Small toys and flotation devices will be allowed for rentals. Morning rentals are available from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm and evening rentals are available from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

Junior Lifeguard Class
The Junior Lifeguarding Class is designed for children ages 11-14 that are prepared for more than just swim lessons. This course is a two week commitment and will provide instruction very similar to that of a regular lifeguarding class. The class will include additional development of swimming skills and practicing of in-water rescues and an introduction of first aid, CPR, and AED knowledge and skills (no certificates will be issued for these). If minimum numbers are not met, classes will be canceled and refunds will be issued.

Water Exercise
Get a workout while taking a dip in the pool with our Water Exercise class. You don’t need to be a swimmer to get the benefits of this class as exercises are in the shallow end of the pool. Pre-registration is not required, but it will save you some money. Please consult your physician before starting any fitness program.
Dates: June 2nd - August 21st
Times: Monday - Thursday from Noon - 1:00 pm
Fee: $2 per class
Punch Pass: $16 for 10 classes (that’s 2 free classes!)


Aqua Zumba
If you like Zumba, then you need to give it a try in the water! This class has similar moves from the normal Zumba that everybody loves. Come make a splash with this fun, Latin-inspired, fitness-dance workout. Just add water and shake!

Dates: June 3rd – August 22nd
Times: Friday - Sunday from Noon to 1:00 pm
Fee: $4 per class
Punch Pass: $32 for 10 classes ( that’s 2 FREE classes!)

Also, keep an eye out at the pool this summer for free Aqua Zumba classes. We will be having a few evening offerings to spread the word about this great class. Oh, and the best part is…IT’S FREE!!

Return to Aquatics

Last Day for Summer
Our last day for the season will be Saturday, August 23rd.  This will be a $0.50 cent swim day from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.

Dog Swim
Join us again for our annual Dog Swim Day. This is a great time to let your favorite pooch come and cool down. Come and let your dog swim in our main pool, jump off the diving board, and fetch until their heart is content. Dogs must be well behaved and any messes must be cleaned up by the owner. We suggest that owners do not go in the water during this time.
