City Wide Basketball 2017-18

Sheridan Recreation District / YMCA City Wide Youth Basketball is back for another exciting season! This program introduces the game of basketball focusing on fundamentals, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Team rosters are built by the school attended as best as possible. Changes may be made by the league director. If a school does not have enough players, those players will be placed on a draft list and will combine with another school. Volunteer coaches and officials are needed. City Wide Basketball is a great introduction to the game. All players are encouraged to participate in this FUN, RECREATION league! Rimbusters Basketball (K-1) This program is for kindergarten and first grade boys and girls interested in learning basketball skills. This is a non-competitive, skill building league held at the YMCA and local elementary schools depending on grade. Fundamentals of basketball, exercise, sportsmanship, and having fun will be emphasized in this great after school program. Instructors from the YMCA and Sheridan Recreation District will be leading this program. A t-shirt is included in your fee. Registration: December 4 - December 29, 2017 Cost: $25.00 (includes t-shirt) Who: Kindergarten and First Graders in Sheridan County. First Whistle: January 6, 2018 at the YMCA with the Sheridan College Generals o 9:00 am for Woodland Park, Highland Park, Martin Luther, Holy Name, and Home School o 10:00 am for Coffeen, Meadowlark, Sagebrush, Tongue River, and Big Horn Season lasts January 8-31, 2018 Locations:  o All SCSD2 practices will be at the YMCA from 3:30 - 4:15 pm on Mondays and Wednesdays beginning January 8th. o Tongue River practices will be at TRVCC on Fridays from 9:00 - 10:00 am beginning January 12th. o Big Horn practices will be at Big Horn on Fridays from 11:00 am – Noon beginning January 12th.

6th Grade Boys Basketball

This program is designed to prepare 6th grade players for junior high level basketball. There is no fee. Sheridan teams will play Holy Name, Big Horn, and Tongue River teams. Registration: Dec. 12, 2017 - Jan. 5, 2018; sign up online or in person at 1579 Thorne Rider Park, call the Sheridan Recreation District at 307-674-6421 or YMCA at 307-674-6488 Season: January 8, 2018 - February; player showcase will be January 8, 2018 at 4:30p m at the YMCA.
