American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification Class
The Sheridan Recreation District is offering an American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification class over three
Sundays in April. If you are interested in becoming a lifeguard this summer, then this is the class for you.
This certification will allow you to lifeguard at the vast majority of aquatics facilities. If you are a person
interested in working as a lifeguard at Kendrick Pool over the summer season this is a great opportunity to
get your foot in the door for that position.

Dates: Sunday - April 3, 10, 24, 2022
•
Time: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm with a one hour lunch break
•
Cost: $120.00
•
Registration: Sign up online or in person at 1579 Thorne-Rider Park.

Location: Sheridan Junior High School Pool
Instructors are Aquatics Specialist Adam Martin and Executive Director Seth Ulvestad who both hold their American Red
Cross Lifeguard Instructor certification. Maximum number of 20 participants. Class times may vary depending on the
number of participants. Detailed schedules will be given at the beginning of the class.
Participants must be 15 years old by the end of the class to receive certification. Successful participants will leave the
course with an American Red Cross certification in Lifeguarding, First Aid, and CPR/AED. Participants will need to pass a
pre-course swim test on the first day of the class. If they are unable to pass the pre-test, a full refund will be given. The
test includes swimming 550 yards, tread water for two minutes, and a timed retrieval event.

Successful completion will not guarantee a position at Kendrick Park Pool. This topic will be discussed during the course.
Sheridan Swim Team
Sheridan Swim Team is a year around competitive club offering high
quality, professional coaching and technique instruction for all ages
and abilities. The goal of our team is to provide every SST athlete an
opportunity to improve swimming skills and achieve success at his or
her level of ability, from novice to international competitor. Our
coaches believe their job is to support each individual athlete while
also developing a team dynamic focused on competitive spirit,
sportsmanship, camaraderie, and fun. SST is a non-profit club owned
and operated by an elected board which meets monthly. All new
members are welcome and encouraged to attend meetings and
encouraged to be involved in activities and fundraising.
